Treatment

DUROLANE is a hyaluronic acid-based treatment. Hyaluronic acid is a well established treatment for osteoarthritis, and as such is included in all expert treatment guidelines.

There are two ways in which you may receive DUROLANE. You can either seek treatment through the NHS or privately.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that you will be considered suitable for DUROLANE treatment as this will need to be a decision made by your doctor.

NHS treatment

You can receive DUROLANE as a treatment from the NHS. If you feel that DUROLANE may be an option please contact your local GP to discuss your situation, symptoms and current method of pain management.

Private treatment

There are many clinicians in the UK who offer DUROLANE privately. Your GP will be able to refer you to a local knee or hip osteoarthritis specialist.

Reimbursement for DUROLANE treatment by insurance companies is sporadic. If you want to claim back costs from an insurance company, you should seek approval for DUROLANE treatment prior to undertaking it.

To help you and your doctor come to a decision regarding your suitability for treatment with DUROLANE, we suggest that you refer to the DUROLANE patient information leaflet (pdf). You might wish to print this out and take it with you when you next see your doctor.
